It started with a 30-minute parking loop
A friend driving down to Manhattan Beach on a Saturday spent half an hour circling for parking — past dozens of empty driveways. Meanwhile his EV was at 12% and every public charger had a queue.
The math felt absurd. Homeowners on the coast are sitting on land worth thousands per square foot, and most of it goes unused 20+ hours a day. At the same time, California has more EVs than charging infrastructure can handle, and beach cities cap public parking by design.
What SpotJoule does
SpotJoule lets homeowners list their driveway — and optionally their home EV charger — by the hour. Drivers find a guaranteed spot and, often, a place to charge while they're at the beach, a restaurant, or a friend's place.
Hosts set their own price and availability. We handle bookings, payments, identity verification, and support. A driveway in Santa Monica or Malibu realistically earns $300–900/month with zero upfront cost.
Why beach cities first
Marketplaces die when they spread too thin. We're starting with eight California beach cities where three things overlap: severe parking scarcity, high EV adoption, and homeowners with driveways. That's Santa Monica, Venice, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa, Malibu, Huntington, Newport, and La Jolla.
Once liquidity is real in those cities, we expand up and down the coast.

We're in private beta, onboarding founding hosts. Founding hosts get a higher revenue share for life and priority placement when drivers search their neighborhood. If you own a driveway in one of our launch cities, we'd love to talk.
